Rasayana Herbs

Herbs that promote longevity are classified as rasayana, one of the eight branches of Ayurveda. All rasayana preparations are superb antioxidants but each has specific benefits that are unique to the herb or formulation. The word "rasayana" translates literally as "juice path" but others say that the meaning is "the destroyer of old age" or "preserver of vitality".

Amla Extract made from wildcrafted Indian gooseberries.

Amla Extract, 2 oz.
Emblica officinalis

Amla is a tropical gooseberry and one of the most important herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. It is also radioprotective, antitumoral, and analgesic. It is cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, and immune enhancing. Our amalaki is extracted from wildcrafted plants.

Amla is very sour but it contains all but the salty taste. It is rich in a form of vitamin C that is not destroyed by cooking. Perhaps of all the Ayurvedic herbs, it has the best reputation for keeping us healthy and vibrant. Ashwagandha Extract, 2 oz.
Withania somnifera

Ashwagandha holds a premier place in the Ayurvedic pharmacopeia. It is both a rasayana herb, meaning one that aids the quality of life and longevity, as well as an adaptogen, an herb that improves our ability to cope with stress. This herb has a multitude of uses but to understand how research of prized Indian herbs is conducted, it is useful to consider how well an herb protects the patient from damaging changes when exposed to chemical, metallic, or radioactive hazards and how successfully the herb protects against free radicals. Ashwagandha is very high on the list of such valuable herbs, but it is most often used to improve male potency and endurance.

Contains: 1:2 extract of organic Withania somnifera in Distilled Water, Organic Alcohol, and Vegetable Glycerin.

In the Ayurvedic medical system, bhringaraj is regarded as a rasayana or longevity herb. In Siddha Medicine, the leaves are used with ghee to disgorge phlegm lodged in the tongue and tonsils, one of the preparations for serious rejuvenation. The leaf extract is a powerful liver tonic but mild enough for children to take for biliousness associated with intestinal parasites. As those familiar with Ayurvedic medicine would expect, a liver herb will tend to have a positive influence on the eyes and skin as well as the liver and blood.
