Black Cohosh Extract, 2 oz.
Cimicifuga racemosa
Black cohosh is a famous Native American gynecological herb, used chiefly to alleviate premenstrual tension and alleviate hot flashes associated with menopause. The most common use is as an alternative to hormone replacement therapy.

Black Walnut, glycerite (no alcohol), 2 oz.
Juglans nigra
The Cherokee used the nut as an anthelmintic, especially for tapeworms. Peter Holmes adds roundworms to the list. Black walnut has laxative properties but is well tolerated. It relieves lymphatic congestion, presumably mainly in patients with parasitic infections.

Vitex agnus castus
Chaste berries are female hormone regulators, especially where there is excess estrogen and low progesterone. This herb is the cornerstone of many Western gynecological programs, including the menstrual cycle, infertility, and menopause. It is thought to work through the pituitary body, not directly on the hormones of the reproductive system. The berries are also used to relieve paralysis and nerve pain.

Eleuthero Root Extract, 2 oz.
Eleutherococcus senticosus
Eleutherococcus senticosus is an adaptogen but not a true ginseng. It is sometimes called pseudo or Siberian ginseng but it is not actually a ginseng. It has blood sugar lowering effects and has been shown to bind estrogen receptors and stimulate T-lymphocyte activity and natural killer cell production. It is normally taken to increase coping margins and stamina, but it sometimes stimulates in a manner that makes it necessary to observe patients with hypertension carefully before using higher than recommended dosages.

Gentian Extract, 2 oz.
Gentiana lutea
Gentian is a popular digestive bitter. It is an ingredient in the famous Angostura Aromatic Bitters. It is used to stimulate the appetite and promote production of gastric secretions. As such, it is often used to overcome both anorexia and cachexia. but some traditional uses include topical applications on skin tumors.
Daniel Mowbry, author of The Scientific Validation of Herbal Medicine, adds a highly interesting note: "Gentian root increases the sensitivity of many glands and organs to the effect of adrenalin."

Guaiacum has been popular since the sixteenth century when it was introduced as a cure for syphilis. Dipsacus sylvestris
Teasel is a potent astringent and is often used as a diuretic and to arrest diarrhea. It stimulates the appetite, improves digestion, and, like other members of the thistle family, aids rejuvenation of the liver and gall bladder. However, it is also regarded as useful in the treatment of Lyme disease. Matthew Wood devoted an entire chapter to it in one of his books and it is one of the ingredients in the Stephen Boehner formula we produce under the name of Spiro Pro.
